❄️☃️Take a Snow Day☃️❄️
Welcome Gen-X-Ers to taking some time out today🥰
Do you ever have days at home and don't want to leave?
Where lounging in your cosy pyjamas, with a steaming mug of coffee and enjoying your home's familiar space seems much more attractive than having to go out and achieve something.
It's interesting to consider that when we are forced to be "stuck at home", that feels more acceptable. Whereas if there's a choice, our minds are in turmoil, surely we "should or must" get out and about and get on with "things".
Do you relate to - Life at times feels like a never-ending to-do list?
I am currently snuggled up on a squishy sofa, literally snowed in, at a wood log ski chalet in the French Alps. "Not bad", I hear you say!
There is a huge blizzard, so that half of the ski resort is closed, and visibility is atrocious. The snow continues to fall in oversized flakes, and I take great pleasure in being made to take it easy, enjoy the setting of the marvellous chalet, and take in the view of the white-covered chocolate-box houses when there is a break in the snowfall!
I could see my situation quite differently. I could be annoyed that I am not able to make the most of my expensive ski pass/hire and frustrated that I am forced to be here "stuck" indoors. However, as you probably know me quite well by now, I choose to go with the flow and accept my day for what it is and what I am being offered.
I choose to make the most of it, enjoy some downtime and space to reflect.
I do appreciate my extremely privileged setting today, but also knowing that if I were stuck in my own home, I would feel the same way. In these scenarios, I don't feel guilty; I choose to be either productive or enjoy a rest. Rest in itself is great for self-care, storing energy for tomorrow.
So if, like me, you struggle to take your foot off the gas at times, then let's make "Storing Energy for Tomorrow" a priority and choose when we want to take a snow day!😍
