⛴️ Road Trip 2025 ๐ŸŽ️

Welcome back Gen-X-ers! ๐Ÿ‘

It's amazing to see this community growing, and thank you for all your feedback, it means the world to me ๐Ÿ˜

Well, what an adventure, my eight-week European road trip has been! Travelling via ferry to Cadiz, then by car through Spain, France, Belgium and up to the Netherlands.

The main purpose for my trip was to spend four weeks in the quaint rural town of Ouddoup, located on a beautiful island in the south of the Netherlands. My time there was spent helping one of my dearest friends, Bellatrix, translate her book and proceeding with the book I am writing about self-development.

I have poured out my heart through writing, unleashing my creativity and genuinely discovering love and joy in my life. Achieving this degree of contentment has taken some time; traveling for the past two months has provided the space and growth I longed for.

There have been many highlights during my trip, from nights in Brussels partying with yoga friends, to concerts in Amsterdam staring my extremely talented niece Talulah Ruby, bouldering in Rotterdam with Isis an agile teenager (this is when you remember your age!), walking and talking with my Aunt Bev in Cadaques, a wonderful birthday celebration lunch with friends in France, a yoga retreat reunion with some amazing ladies, through to staying at random hotels along the way and meeting some great and interesting people.

So what have I learnt? Being a Grandma does not hold you back, I have traveled with confidence and trust, taking the time to absorb my surroundings. That's the difference when you have time for yourself, there is no one there to distract you. Traveling solo (accompanied by my dog Oli) has never been on my bucket list, however, I can see the advantages now. You have moments of silence where you can take in the surroundings, smell the flowers and hear birds tweeting. You have the opportunity to observe undisturbed and to see details which would otherwise be missed. You interact more with others, and as all choices are your own, you feel like you are living your own life to the full, I am no longer a mere passenger.

How have I grown? I feel a sense of inner peace, where I can achieve my goals fearlessly. My confidence is expanding and I am finally finding my direction. I consider travelling and stepping out of your comfort zone, a brilliant tool to help build your self-esteem. I am finding clarity and a clear vision for my future and next chapter.

Travelling gives you space to reflect on your daily and weekly routines back home. This allows you to consider their importance, and a chance to redirect, to add or drop tasks/activities when you return. It's also useful to address your feelings when you are getting close to arriving home. How do you feel about returning? If you are not 100% happy, then some areas would benefit from looking at and working on to enhance your lifestyle.

On reflection, I would like to build in two structured blocks per week dedicated to writing, I have found the mornings are my most productive times.  Adding these blocks to my diary, I am far more likely to achieve my new goal. It gives accountability and if I am called to another meeting, I can truly reply that my schedule is already full at that time!

Having bravely driven 5,000km, I feel a huge sense of achievement, and have found an inner strength I intend to keep growing throughout the year.

A big shout out to all I have met along the way and those who have contributed to my amazing trip. Catching up with my friends, made the trip so much fun.

I have to acknowledge my little Oli dog, who is just the best travel companion ever. He is easy going, loves adventures, and is a true fellow explorer.

I hope you find my blogs inspirational, let me know your thoughts on the following, I am very interested to know what interests you!

Where would you choose to travel for eight weeks?
What adventures do you dream of?
How would you fill your time, what fires your passion?

Then consider:
What is stopping you from realising your adventure?
With obstacles in the way, what could you do to overcome them?
What personal sacrifices are necessary to make your dream trip happen?

I'm excited to read your thoughts! If you have a moment, feel free to share your ideas in the comments. Don't hold back—your words might just inspire someone and create a meaningful impact!

Catch up soon X๐Ÿ’œX
